Register a company in Pakistan: what to prepare first
Before you register a company in Pakistan, decide who the members and directors will be, shortlist two or three company names, and collect each person's CNIC and contact details. Having these ready is what keeps the online filing from being delayed. This page is the do-it-yourself walkthrough. For what registration involves, structures and costs, see company registration in Pakistan and company registration cost.
Step 1: Choose the company type
Two or more people can form a private company. One person can form a single member company. Three or more form a public company. Most small businesses choose private limited company registration in Pakistan or SMC (single member company) registration in Pakistan. Compare all options at business registration in Pakistan.
Step 2: Reserve the company name
Apply to SECP with up to three names in order of priority. A reserved name is held for a period not exceeding sixty days, so file incorporation within that window. Names cannot be identical or deceptively similar to an existing company and cannot use restricted words without approval. This is company name reservation in Pakistan.
Step 3: Prepare the documents
You need CNICs, addresses, the memorandum and articles of association, and consent forms. Use the documents checklist.
Step 4: File with SECP online
Submit through SECP's online system. You may need a digital signature and a user account. See SECP online registration (eZfile, LEAP and digital signature).
Step 5: Pay the SECP fee
The fee depends on your share capital; see company registration fees in Pakistan.
Step 6: After you receive the certificate
Register with FBR, open a bank account and set up sales tax if needed: FBR registration after SECP incorporation.
