How much tax on Rs 45 lakh income, and what about a bonus?

For a salaried person in tax year 2027, an annual income of Rs 4,500,000 falls in the band above Rs 4,100,000. The tax is Rs 541,000 plus 29% of the amount over Rs 4,100,000. That is Rs 541,000 plus Rs 116,000, which comes to Rs 657,000 a year, or about Rs 54,750 a month. Under the tax year 2026 slabs the same income gives Rs 756,000. Type your own figure into the calculator above to check.

A bonus is part of your salary income, so it is added to your annual total and can push part of your pay into a higher band. Employers normally deduct tax on the estimated annual total, which is why a bonus month can show a bigger deduction. The calculator takes taxable salary only. Credits, such as certain donations or pension contributions, can lower the final tax but are not applied here. Read income tax filing in Pakistan for how they are claimed.

What to do after you know your tax

If you earn more than the exempt threshold, you need an NTN and a return; see income tax filing in Pakistan and NTN registration in Pakistan. If your employer already deducts tax, filing a return still reconciles it. Income beyond salary, such as rent or freelance work, is not covered by this calculator. See freelancer and IT exporter tax filing in Pakistan.
